  Sea buckthorn

  Sea buckthorn is a bush (shrub) or smaller tree, descending from Asia, now widespread through all Europe and  in the North America. I tis usually 2m high, with green-silver leaves, orange berries and thorns. Flowers are inconspicious, browny-green color, occuring efore leaves vegetation in March and Apríl. S.B. is a diocious species, including male and female bushes.

  Colour of berries depends of species, mostly is orange, can be from yelow to red.

  The name „Hippophae“ dones from ancienit Greek, in translation means „gleaming horse“. Ancient Greeks  kneww that horses, Frediny on the places with S.b. bushes had a shining fell and were filling out.
